Two special paintings on loan to the new Marius van Dokkum Museum!
Today, Corien van der Meulen and Sophie van Steenderen received two beautiful paintings by Jopie Huisman on loan from Peter Miedema, director of the Jopie Huisman Museum in Workum: Euzie (1965) and Mijn pantoffels (1980).
From the museum’s opening on 6 October, the paintings will be on display in the new Marius van Dokkum Museum, alongside Marius’ own work.
Jopie Huisman (1922–2000) was a great source of inspiration for Marius van Dokkum. His compassion, humour and attention to people and objects that others might easily overlook continue to inspire Marius, both as a person and as an artist. Emotion, humour and warmth come together in the work of both artists.
And this is only the beginning… This loan is a preview of a special collaboration with the Jopie Huisman Museum. In 2028, a unique joint exhibition will take place: works by Jopie Huisman will come to Harderwijk, while works by Marius van Dokkum will travel to Workum.
Two distinctive artists. Two special museums. One shared love for the beauty of everyday life.
