Take a look inside the studio
At the new Marius van Dokkum Museum, you can get closer to the artist than ever before. Marius has his own spacious studio, inspired entirely by his workspace at home. From his easel and materials to the objects around him, this is your chance to step into the world where his paintings are created.
Marius at work
Marius works in his studio at the museum one day a week. When he is there, you can watch him paint and ask him questions about his work and creative process. There is no fixed day on which he visits, so meeting Marius remains a pleasant surprise during your museum visit.
And if Marius isn’t there? There is still plenty to discover. We show you how he works and take you through his creative process, giving you a special behind-the-scenes look at how his paintings are created.
Closer to the artist
A museum entirely dedicated to a living artist is something special. Here, you not only see his finished paintings on the walls, but also discover how and where his art is created.
The studio literally brings you closer to Marius and the way he works. And with a bit of luck, you might find Marius himself at the easel during your visit.
